Forbes.com Best Car Deals 2006

Forbes.com’s article and accompanying slide show is a guide to new-model cars currently carrying the deepest discounts. The cars that come with the biggest cash rebates and best financing rates. Auto dealers have a few ways of offering discounts. There are cash rebates, which can be applied to the cost of the car (and are frequently used for down payments) or simply received in cash. Special financing rates–below-market interest rates–reduce borrowing costs. Buyers are sometimes given a choice between a cash rebate and a financing deal, or may be offered both. MONEY Magazine’s Best Cars of 2006

MONEY Magazine’s annual look at the best cars around revealed the 15 cars and SUVs that blend safety, value and performance better than any of their peers. MONEY’s car tests don’t involve stopwatches. Instead, trunks are loaded up, kids shuttled, vehicles parallel-parked — in other words, what you do with your car in the real world. Value is the other essential consideration: Building a great, expensive car is easy — it’s building a great car at a great price with great resale value that’s a real triumph…
