Wine Spectator’s Top 100 Wines of 2006

Each year, Wine Spectator magazine editors survey the wines reviewed during the calendar year and select the most exciting wines for the Top 100. The wines chosen are based on four criteria: quality, value, availability, and “excitement.”

In 2006, Wine Spectator reviewed more than 13,500 wines from around the world in blind tastings. More than 2,700 of them earned outstanding ratings (90 points or higher on the 100-point scale), qualifying them for the initial pool of candidates. Thirteen countries are represented in the 2006 list, making this the most diverse group in the history of the Top 100, which debuted in 1988. The average score of the group is 93 points, while the average price is $49. View the top 100 wines…

TIME’s Top 100 Albums of All Time

A list of the 100 greatest and most influential albums was recently compiled by Time magazine music critics. The Beatles have five albums on the list, more than any other group. Bob Dylan leads all male artists with three and Aretha Franklin leads the women with two. Elvis Presley is in there. So’s Eminem, Radiohead, the Stones, Kanye West, Michael Jackson, Nirvana, Bruce Springsteen, even the Plastic Ono Band. But nothing by Pink Floyd. Not even “Dark Side of the Moon,” which is one of the best-selling albums of all time. Other prominent no-shows — The Doors, and Elvis Costello. View the complete list…
