The 50 Best Birds in the World

Birdwatcher Don Roberson of Monterey, California has compiled a list of the 50 Best Birds of the World. Criteria: how impressive, unique, rare, and hard to find each bird is. He included a diverse selection across continents and oceans, and throughout the spectrum of bird families.

#1 is the Philippine Eagle. The largest and most spectacular raptor in the world is also among the rarest; it is threatened with extinction as the Philippine forests are destroyed.
