The Ultimate NYC Celebrity Homes Map

NewYorkMag.com recently researched and compiled their first-ever Star Map. The addresses were culled from publicly available real-estate records, selected published reports, and widely used Internet directories as well as the occasional in-the-know friend or well-placed source. NY mag opted not to print specific addresses. But you can still see, generally to within a block, where Drew Barrymore and Fabrizio Moretti live, that Uma Thurman and Julia Roberts could easily buy their lottery tickets at the same corner deli, where Kim Cattrall shares an elevator with Neil Sedaka, and that Herman Melville and Joey Ramone were practically neighbors (albeit in different centuries)…

#1 is the Philippine Eagle. The largest and most spectacular raptor in the world is also among the rarest; it is threatened with extinction as the Philippine forests are destroyed. Perhaps only 250 adults remain in isolated and difficult to reach remnants. Check out the other extraordinary birds on the list…

In Premiere magazine’s list, you’ll see 50 embodiments of that most indefinable term, star quality. While podcasting was named for the iPod, you do not have to have an iPod to listen to a podcast. Podcasts can be displayed on websites with clickable links to audio files and many of the standard RSS readers have begun supporting audio enclosures.

The International Best-Dressed List Hall of Fame

The International Best-Dressed list was created in the 1940s by fashion publicist Eleanor Lambert. Before Ms. Lambert died in 2003 at age 100, she passed it on to Vanity Fair, with the idea that the magazine would continue publishing an annual list. Eleanor started the best-dressed list in New York in 1940 at the onset of the Second World War. She took up the idea from a previous French-oriented best-dressed list that came to an end when France fell to the Nazis. She launched it with the intention of promoting American fashion and its designers. This was both a practical and revolutionary idea, and with it Eleanor transformed the garment industry into the world-famous fashion business.

In its earliest years it was dominated by very rich women and/or socialites, members of royalty, and occasionally a movie star (Rosalind Russell was the first). Ten years later the number of movie stars had increased substantially. An individual must be on the best-dressed list four times in order to be inducted into the hall of fame. This year Kate Moss joins the list and appears on the cover of VF wearing only patent-leather stiletto boots and white gloves. View the list…
