The people whose ideas, power, and sheer will are changing New York. New York Magazine looked for specific trends their influentials are driving, people who were not just keeping the seats of power warm but who were effecting real change. The list moves from culture to media to politics and business and so on. Within each field, do not read a hierarchy into the order of names: NY mag did not rank individuals on the list against one another. Also, to be included on the list, each influential had to live, at least part of the time, in New York. See who made the cut…

The winners of the 10th Annual Webby Awards were revealed today in 69 business, consumer and culture categories - from favorites like Community, Fashion, Film and Politics to new categories making their debut this year such as Podcasts, Best Visual Design, Business Blog and Best Use of Video or Moving Image. The 10th Annual Webby Awards received a record 5,500 entries from over 40 countries around the world.

Kiplinger’s looked for cities with good value in home prices and a reasonable cost of living, combined with a great quality of life. Places where you could buy an attractive house for $300,000 to $400,000 or less. Access to quality health care was also a must, as was a strong economy. Next, they traveled to the cities that bubbled to the top of the list, to speak with residents and savor the flavor of their neighborhoods.
